DUMB ROCK NEWS!

hightidehotel:

My name’s Dave. I’m 26 years old, I live in Philadelphia, and, on occasion, I play guitar and sing in a band. And I suffer from clinical depression.

Sometimes that last part strikes people as an odd introduction. Because a lot of people who do suffer from depression usually aren’t all that…

A cool post from Hightide Hotel. Things like this remind me of the reason I keep writing, and also the good things DIY can do for people like help spread important information.

John Bradley’s recent project off 6131 records is a sort of hit-or-miss with me. I do like these songs, I think they are musically different from Dads, but I don’t know if they are ‘good’ songs. Looking back on this review and the release I think they’ve grown on me. Although they sound a little too similar to Bright Eyes and they feel lyrically like Dad’s songs, they are there own thing.

Listening to La Dispute’s latest record I found many comparison’s to MeWithoutYou throughout their career. Although I used to find the music too progressive and hard to understand, now I find them more comprehensible and thematically dumbed down. This makes this album to me, a good door into their career.

RVIVR // VLHS

The band has been working at these new tracks including a cover of Modest Mouse’s “Styrofoam Boots/ It’s All Nice On Ice, Alright” for a little while now. Alex Estrada produced these tracks over at Earth Capitol and while some of the songs are the same from their debut release, this EP holds a lot better as a cohesive piece.
